Latin dance can bring so much variety to body rolls. This class will explore the different types of body rolls from Latin, Bachata, and Zouk to discover how different energies can bring different feelings to the dance.
We’ll explore options for playing on a continuum of role fluidity, ranging from follow voice to full role switching, while maintaining a very strong feeling of connection. For this, the class will use minimal vocabulary (weight shift variations, simple upper body isolations, etc.) to play micro dance games ranging from easy to challenging. Class attendees will experience all role options equally
A chance to grab a cup of tea, catch up, cuddle, connect, and free dance with people before the day's events.
Tango Fusion inspired micro.
Playing with the followers axis and working with a free leg. Tango is usually a progressive, moving dance - but we’ll look at some of the techniques from tango to lead small moves in place.
In Micro Fusion, we typically connect front to front, belly to belly, chest to chest – depending on your height differences. With so much loveliness happening in just one area, the rest of my body can easily feel left out! Drawing on exercises and teachings from Contact Improvisation, this workshop will explore a head-toe, 360° perspective of Micro Fusion. This workshop is for you if you are curious about novel input from a neighbouring dance scene that places connection, play, self-reliance and consent at its heart.
We will create a short & sweet choreo more typical to larger fusion dancing and then we make it smaller and smaller!
We will also experiment on how to express the choreo in different ways and in different parts of our connection. Bring your experimentation and inventiveness!
Excluding the welcome and warm up, classes will last 1 hour and there will be a 15min break between those classes.
Teas, Coffees, water refills and biscuits will be available for free throughout the afternoon via the self serve kitchenette area.
